In June 2018, the Ocean Plastic Charter an initiative lead by the Government of Canada supported by the G7 was adopted by a number of countries in order to demonstrate their commitment to take action to address marine plastic litter. Oceans Plastics Charter Kenya became a signatory to the charter at the Blue Oceans Conference in November 2018.
The Oceans Plastic Charter aims to ensure that plastics are designed for reuse and recycling, as well as to protect the environment while keeping valuable plastics in the economy.
